What an assessment for Attention deficit disorder (AD(H)D) looks like
- Initial telephone/zoom consultation
- QB Check computer assessment and appropriate psychological screening tools eg Conners’ Adult ADHD Rating Scale (CAARS) and, in line with NICE guidance,
- an assessment of the person’s needs, co-existing conditions, social, familial and educational or occupational circumstances, and physical health
- Summary discussion with the multi-disciplinary team
- Production of the assessment report
- Follow up session with a therapist
- Scheduling of a feedback appointment with links to support that I can offer you and sign posting to other services.
We do an assessment for diagnosis, using the gold standard (ADOS-2 Autism assessment), and National Institute for health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) screening tools. The assessment for diagnosis will state whether you meet the diagnosis threshold for Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).
The first thing you need to do is to contact me and book in an initial 30 minute consultation.
During this consultation I will ask you some questions to see if an assessment is the right path for you (AQ10).
From here, I will then arrange a date and time for your assessment; this will take place face-to-face.
We understand that some services offer remote assessments, however ADOS-2 (Autism) has not been validated for remote assessments and therefore a face-to-face assessment is required to gather suitable evidence and to preserve the integrity of the assessment process.
If you wish to use the payment plan for your assessment you will be asked to sign an agreement for the payment plan, as well as completing a standing order for your payment details. (This is handled by the over arching company Autism ADHD Ltd and not Jo Mitchelhill Coaching).
Once your assessment has been completed, the multidisciplinary team will discuss your case to ensure consistency on the assessment decision.
We will produce a report which we will forward to you for your review.
We will then discuss the report with you and ensure you are clear on what the next steps are.
You will notice our report includes references to support groups, benefits, and social media listings, which may well be beneficial for you.
From when you initially contact us, your assessment is normally booked in for approximately 3 weeks.
Once your assessment is complete it will take approximately 2 to 3 weeks to complete your assessment report.
Therefore, the total timeframe approximately 6 weeks from start to finish.
Joint assessment £2000
ADD only assessment £1500
For the assessments - yes
For all additional services payment options can be discussed on an individual basis.
Then you only need to pay £1500.
That’s £350 on day of assessment followed by 10 monthly payments of £115
You can use the report to access reasonable adjustments under the 2010 Equality Act, to enable you to function better in your workplace.
To access medication, you will need to take your report to your GP, they will forward this to the local NHS ADHD service. This report will allow them to access support for you. However, some NHS services will still insist on doing their own report, if this happens in your area, we strongly advise you to raise a concern with the local PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service), as well as contacting your local MP. We use exactly the same tools as recommended in the NICE guidance. Assessments are conducted to the same standards, though some NHS local services state they will not accept a private assessment. We fully believe in the right to complain to access the help and support that you or your child needs. Some of our clients utilise the reports to access medication privately, whilst they are waiting for their local NHS service.
